The Hole Numbers , Names and the Fish


Hole Numbers:-

A man digs a hole in 6 hours, another man can dig the same size hole
in 3 hours, a third man takes 4 hours and another takes 5 hours.
If they all worked together at their respective speeds, and didn't get in
each other's way, how long would it take to dig that hole?


Orientation:-

1)Find out how much hole each man digs in one hour and solve the puzzle.

Names:-

Miss Alden, Miss Brent, Miss Clark), Miss Doyle,
and Miss Evans have short first and middle names.

[1] Four of them have a first or middle name of Fay,
three of them have a first or middle name of Gay,
two of them have a first or middle name of Kay,
and one of them has a first or middle name of
May.

[2] Either Miss Alden and Miss Brent are both
named Kay or Miss Clark and Miss Doyle are
both named Kay.

[3] Of Miss Brent and Miss Clark, either both are
named Gay or neither is named Gay.

[4] Miss Doyle and Miss Evans are not both named
Fay.

Who is named May?

Orientation:-

1) Each person has only one first name,last name and middle name which is a total of 3 given names and not more than that.

The Fish:-

The fish has a head 9 inches long. The tail is equal to the size of
the head plus one half the size of the body. The body is the size
of the head plus the tail. How long is the fish?

Orientation:-

1)Solve it as an algebric expression keeping tail as the value x.

  A Warm Farewell:- At a train station, the Porter family is saying good-bye to the Robinson f amily. We don't know who is leaving and who is staying. Each of the members of the Porter family says farewell to each of the members of the Robinson family. To say good bye, two men shake hands, and both a man and a woman and two women kiss once on the cheek. An eyewitness to the event counted 21 handshakes and 34 kisses.   . How many men and how many women were saying good-bye ?? Orientation: - 1)First find the total number of members in each family by adding the handshakes and kisses 21+34=55 interactions and then find the factors of 55 ie 5* 11, 55* 1. 55 * 1 is not possible hence there are 5 members in one family and 11 members in another family. 2) Using the same logic find the no of mens in each family with 21 handshakes. 3) Use 1 and 2 to find the number of women in each family 4) Give the total number of men and women based on 2 and 3.
